چکیده
Dynamic tensile strength of brittle materials such as concrete is usually obtained by performing laboratory investigations direct tensile, Brazilian splitting, and spall tests. This research presents a study aimed to investigate numerically the dynamic behavior exposed loading at medium strain-rate. The investigated using Modified Split Hopkinson Bar (MSHB) strain-rate ranges from 33 80 s-1. commercial finite element explicit code LS-DYNA used perform numerical simulations MSHB Karagozian & Case Concrete Model (K&C) adopted define mechanical properties specimens. employed K&C material model verified experimental results in [1]. validation carried out with comparison computed pull-back velocities specimens free end. analysis are enhance understanding sensitivity strength.

متن کاملModeling of Water Radiolysis at Spallation Neutron Sources
In spallation neutron sources neutrons are produced when a beam of high-energy particles (e.g., I GeV protons) collides with a (watercooled) heavy metal target such as tungsten. The resulting spallation reactions produce a complex radiation environment (which differs from typical conditions at fission and fusion reactors) leading to the radiolysis of water molecules. Most water radiolysis produ...
متن کاملComposite Approach to High Strain-Rate Stress-Strain Curve of Reactive Powder Concrete
In this study, we investigate the stress-strain curves of reactive powder concrete (RPC) at high strain rates by using SHPB test, the Burgers’ mechanics model and secant-moduli method. The RPC composites are examined at the age of 10 days containing RPC mortar as the matrix, and three volume concentrations, 1%, 2% and 3%, of steel fiber as the inclusion respectively. Strain rates including 1×10...

Submit Manuscript | http://medcraveonline.com interaction of airplane body with the shell has been replaced by impulse. Such approach is justified when initial stage of interaction is described, taking that concrete structure contacts quite thin aluminum body (from 3 to 8 mm thick). In this case one does not need to calculate contact boundaries thus simplifying significantly the objective and e...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
